A fine dry day
and the first round of this years South East Centre Championship.
Rob & Andy
were both looking forward to this event having only competed in one single round
last year to finish 7th overall. The course was at a regular trials
ground/practice area that Rob & Andy had never seen before. The trial was set in
a disused quarry with plenty of slippery chalk and some areas of very deep mud
too!
There were 10
demanding sections and four laps for each of the sidecar teams to negotiate, Rob
& Andy had a small problem with the front brake not working correctly after new
front shoes had been fitted during the week for this event. It was after the
trial in the workshop found that the shoes had been manufactured incorrectly so
this did hamper their performance somewhat (a new set of shoes fitted and
problem now cured). They still managed a creditable 3rd place finish
so were pleased with this for their days effort.
The team now
have a free weekend and then off to Newton Abbott in Devon for the 1st
Round of the Sammy Miller Pre 65 British Championship on 8th March.
